On the way to the cave she told us about her trip to Antarctica. The boat was an old Russian icebreaker, which had been transformed into a Nordic Cruise ship for South Pole tourism. There was an older couple on board - a husband and wife. Before they left, the wife had not felt very well but went to many doctors who all found nothing wrong. She had spoken with her husband about whether to go ahead with the trip and they both agreed it was still a fine idea. In the middle of that huge water, she collapsed on board the icebreaker and died. They were nearest to the Falkland Islands at that time, and there was no choice but for the husband to disembark with his wife. He waited on the island for weeks - until the paperwork cleared so he could bring her home with him - and for another ship to pass en-route North.
